LYKKE

LYKKE is a fictional editorial design project that is based on "The Little Book of Lykke: The Danish Search for the World's Happiest People" by Meik Wiking.

In his book Wiking explores the concept of happiness and provides practical advice on how to create a more fulfilling life. He draws from research and examples from different cultures. But the emotional aspects are especially emphasised; the importance of social connections, gratitude, and finding joy in the simple things to cultivate happiness in our everyday lives.

Challenge

Great things sometimes have small beginnings.
— Meik Wiking

Concerning the magazine, the topic of happiness is to be brought closer to the reader in shorter form and to create an incentive for an intellectual and philosophical exploration of the concept of happiness. The reader is to be addressed on a personal level, thus creating a certain closeness.

After I had read "The Little Book of Lykke", I analysed its design and types of text.

For the imagery I decided to use simple illustrations and photos, that create a feeling of calmness and ease. The textual content includes scientific articles and excerpts, interviews, poetry and literary texts. I also decided to personally interview people about their views on the subject of happiness.

The magazine features 48 pages in its first issue.
