memo:
For my bachelor thesis I decided to create a pilot edition of an intermedia magazine. The editorial is named “memo:” in reference to its overall content concerning memory.
The future of periodicals is shifting towards online presences, such as social media and website. In this context, it is important to build a bridge from analogue to digital media.
Our world doesn’t function without the ability to remember. Although there are individual print editions that publish articles on the topic of remembering, there is no periodical magazine that focuses exclusively on this topic. The challenge was to create a traditional editorial that includes digital components in order to increase the readership and to include all target groups.
Challenge
I designed a pilot edition of the analogue magazine and added content in a cross-medial context. The editorial can be enhanced, by scanning the pages to unlock AR elements. These include layered graphics in a 3D space, videos and animations. Furthermore the editorial has a social media appearance that bridges the time gap in between print publications.
The written thesis consists of 96 pages and the prototype print of the first issue includes the editorial, a newsprint and a riso poster.
